The General Manager of Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Mr. Chuwang Pwajok, announced via Facebook that the hyena which escaped from Jos Wildlife Park has been recaptured.
Mr. Pwajok shared pictures of the recaptured animal secured in a cage, bringing relief to concerned residents.
On Monday, Mr. Pwajok had used the same platform to inform the public about the hyena’s escape, urging residents to remain cautious.
This incident echoed a similar event in 2015 when a lion escaped from the same park.
Unfortunately, the lion was killed due to the lack of tranquilizers necessary for a safe recapture, a decision that sparked significant criticism.
Additionally, in 2016, two chimpanzees escaped from the zoological garden of the National Museum and Monuments, also in Plateau State.
Unlike the 2015 incident, the chimpanzees were safely returned to their enclosure after a few days.
