A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state, Dr Fola Akinosun says the Bola Tinubu administration’s focus to develop states of the Federation through continuous monetary interventions was a strategy for rapid national development and freedom from external financial indebtedness.
Dr Akinosun made this known in Ibadan at a send off and award ceremony organized by Ibadan Education Foundation for some retired secondary school principals in Oyo state
The educationist and grassroots politician who explained that the government at the centre was wise enough to pump more funds to states which are more closer to the grassroots said the strategy is expected to ease economic hardship, provide dividend of democracy at the grassroots and encourage growth through distribution of resources to state governments.
He said the current economic hardship Nigeria is experiencing at the moment can be linked to the control of external financial institutions such as the IMF on Nigeria’s economy as a result of Nigeria’s indebtedness.
Akinosun however called on state governors to complement the efforts of the Federal government at ameliorating the present economic situation in the country.
Dr. Akinosun while commending the Ibadan Education Foundation, a group under the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, for it’s role at uplifting the education sector in Ibadanland offered five hundred scholarship opportunities under Fola Akinosun Foundation, to children and wards of members of the group.
In addition to the scholarship opportunities which included vocational and agricultural skill acquisitions for beneficiaries to make them earn a living, the Agbaakin of Iroko also donated cash, food and clothes gifts to the gathering.
In A remark, the president general, central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Barrister Niyi Ajewole commended Dr Fola Akinosun for his moral and financial supports for CCII.
He appreciated Akinosun’s annual education scholarship for the beneficiaries, describing it as a sign of passion for Ibadan land.
