The pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization, Afenifere, has announced restructuring of the group, by abrogating the position of “Acting Leader” being occupied by Pa Ayo Adebanjo.
The group took the decision on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, held its first general meeting in the new year at the Akure home of the National Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
Pa Fasoranti who appointed Pa Adebanjo as the Acting Leader, said in the communique of the meeting that the office of the Acting Leader is no longer in existence.
A motion on the need to abrogate the dual positions of Acting Leader and Deputy Leader was moved by Dr. S. J. Ibikunle from Ogun State and it was seconded by Members from Ekiti, Kwara, Oyo and Ondo States, and the motion was unanimously carried.
According to the communique read by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, Afenifere also abolished the position of Acting Leader and Deputy Leader, and constituted the Afenifere Elders Caucus chaired by Pa Fasoranti.
Afenifere also charged President Bola Tinubu to rework the nation’s Security Architecture to end the high rate of insecurity in most parts of the country.
