Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was born on 22 August 1958 (63).

An Iseyin born jurist and Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He assumed office on the 22nd of November 2011

Prior to becoming a Justice of the Supreme Court, he was appointed a judge of the Oyo State High Court in 1992

He was formerly a Justice of the Nigerian courts of appeal and on November 22, 2011, he was appointed to the bench of the supreme court of Nigeria as Justice, sworn in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

He studied law at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile Ife and bagged his bachelor of laws degree with honours in July 1980.

The Iseyin born jurist was appointed and awaiting Nigerian Senate’s approval as Chief Justice of Nigeria on the 27th June 2022 following the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad

He was part of the seven man panel led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad that determined the Buhari/Atiku’s presidential appeal case in 2019

Following the resignation of the chief justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, the justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, is expected to be sworn in as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) today.

Special Assistant on Media to the immediate past CJN, Mr Ahuraka Isah Confirmed the development to newsmen.

Justice Ariwoola is to be sworn in as the acting CJN by the Presidency at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, being the next most senior justice of the Supreme Court at the time of Justice Muhammad’s resignation.
