15 Nigerian Airports Renamed

Just hours before leaving Aso Rock, Immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari approved the renaming of 15 airports after some prominent Nigerian leaders.

A Statement issued on Friday, by the ministry of aviation signed by the head of press and public relations, Odutayo Oluseyi.

Akure International Airport
Among the 15 airports are Akure International Airport, named after Olumuyiwa Bernard Aliu; Benin International Airport named after Oba Akinzua II; Dutse International Airport name after Muhammed Nuhu Sanusi.

Ebonyi International Airport Okadigbo will now be known as Chuba Wilberforce; while Gombe International Airport was renamed Brigadier Zakari Maimalari.

Also Ibadan International Airport (Samuel Ladoke Akintola); Ilorin International Airport (General Tunde Abdullahi Idiagbon); Kaduna International Airport (Gen. Hassan Usman Katsina); and Maiduguri International Airport (President Muhammadu Buhari).

Makurdi International Airport
Makurdi International Airport is now Joseph Sarwuan Tarka; Minna International Airport has renamed to Mall. Abubakar Imam.

Nasarrawa International Airport renamed after Sheikh Usman Danfodio; Osubi International Airport was renamed Alfred Diete-Spiff.

Port Harcourt International Airport is also among the 15 airports and now known as Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo and Yola International Airport is now known as Lamido Aliyu Mustapha Airport.
