2023 Polls: Oyo NOA Sensitizes Stakeholders • We’ve Received Sensitive, Non Sensitive Materials – INEC

Major stakeholders in the electoral process in Oyo state have expressed readiness to play their parts to ensure free, fair and credible polls in the forthcoming general election

They made the resolution at a stakeholders sensitization programme on 2023 election organized by National Orientation Agency, NOA Oyo state.

INEC Residents Electoral Commissioner in Oyo state, Dr Adeniran Tella who said the commission has received some sensitive and non sensitive materials in preparation for the elections, explained that with the use of BVAS, the era of election malpractices were over.

Dr Tella said the materials would be deployed to relevant places and local governments at the appropriate time.

While expressing confidence that the election would record minimal hitch, Dr Tella called on eligible voters to get their permanent voter cards as over nine thousand uncollected PVCs are still with INEC in the state.

Also speaking, Oyo state Commissioner of Police, Williams Adebowale represented by Assistant Commissioner of police, Taiwo Kasumu emphasized the need for keyplayers to study the new electoral law so as not to fall prey of the law

Also speaking, Lieutenant Colonel Charles Ikeocha said the military in collaboration with other security agencies was ready for the peaceful conduct of the election.

Earlier in a welcome address, Oyo State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr Kayode Odedokun said voter apathy, needless voided votes as a result of ignorance and other electoral vices informed the stakeholders sensitization programme.

Newsarena.ng reports that participants who were religious and community leaders as well as representatives of political parties urged INEC to be fair to all parties.
