The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Oyo state has pasted the list of candidates for the governorship and state house of assembly election at the commission’s headquarters in Oyo State, Agodi, Ibadan.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the INEC Administrative Secretary in Oyo State, Biodun Onikate-Amosu, the development was in line with the 2023 elections timetable and electoral Act, 2022.
It says the lists were also pasted in INEC’s offices in local government across the state.
The statement reads in part:
“The pasted names would serve as precursor to the commencement of campaign activities slated for 12 October, 2022, adding that, campaign activities for the presidential/National Assembly election have already begun on 28th September, 2022.
” He however advised political parties to reman civil, abstain from slogan tainted with abusive languages directly or indirectly or one likely to injure religious, ethnic, tribal or sectional feelings , adding that use of masquerade or religious centres during campaign period are therefore prohibited by the electoral Act 2022″
