2023 Election: Nigeria Police Image Makers Undergo Capacity Building In Ibadan • Honour Two Outstanding PPROs
The Nigeria Police Force has assured Nigerians of a safe and secured atmosphere before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
Inspector General of Police, Mr Usman Baba stated this while declaring open the annual conference of the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officers and Strategic Communication Experts in Ibadan.
IGP Baba who spoke through Deputy inspector General of Police in charge of southwest, Mr Babatunde kokumo said they remain the image maker of the force, hence the need to be well infomed in order to communicate strategically while discharging their civic responsibilty to the Society.
On his part, The minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the program was appropriate as a necessary tool for achieving peace and security.
The Minister, represented by the director of production and documentation in the ministry, Mr Ibidapo Okunnu said it was important Police public relations officers are well informed on the significance of strategic communications in dealing with the public, to reduce misinformations and fake news that could heat up the polity.
In his welcome address, force public relations officer, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi said the conference would train officers needed skills to deal with people, especially during the general elections.
Some Police image makers who distinguished themselves in their line of duty, including Oyo and lagos states PPRO, Adewale Osifeso and Benjamin Hyundeyin were recognised With an award of excellence.
The annual conference with the theme “Strengthening Strategic Communication Towards Police Reforms, Security and Integrity of 2023 Election” held in Ibadan was to equip Police image makers on matters relating to Elections Management, Law Enforcement, and Communications
