10 Wards, 40 Widows, 40 Youths, Others Benefit From Ido LG Chairman’s Cash, Food Empowerment
In a bid to cushion the effect of the current economic challenges and boost grassroots livelihoods, the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has empowered widows and youths across the 10 political wards of the local government.
The empowerment programme, held at the Local Government Secretariat, Ido, saw 40 widows and 40 youths drawn from Wards 1-10 receive a cash grant of Thirty Thousand Naira (₦30,000) each, to support their small businesses and personal needs.
In addition, 15 aged widows received 10kg bags of rice each with more cash as a special support package to ease food burden in their households.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Adeojo said the initiative is part of his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and welfare for vulnerable groups, particularly widows and young people who are the backbone of the community.
“Our widows and youths deserve our support. This token is to tell them that government cares about their welfare. We carefully selected beneficiaries across all 10 wards to ensure fairness and equity. We will continue to roll out more empowerment programmes to tackle poverty and unemployment in Ido Local Government,” the LG helmsman said.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to improve their lives and businesses.
In his remarks, the secretary to the LG, *Hon. Kamorudeen Gbadamosi*, commended the Chairman for his people-centered leadership and for consistently prioritizing women, widows, and youth empowerment.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed deep appreciation to the Chairman, describing the gesture as timely and impactful. They offered prayers for the success of the administration.
