Nurse Narrates Ordeal As Suspected Thug Inflicts Injuries On Hospital Staff

A suspected notorious thug known as Gbenga A.k.A Seriki and his gang have allegedly broken the neck of a Nurse, Comfort Olaogbesibikan working with General Hospital, Emure Ekiti.

The suspects also inflicted injuries on other staff of the hospital including the security man on guard.

Narrating her ordeal, the Nurse told Newsmen that Seriki rushed his five day old baby to the clinic for treatment, after the baby was said to have developed complications.

She noted that the baby was brought to the hospital dead and immediately the father was notified, he pounced on her heavily and broke her neck.

The situation paralyzed activities in the hospital and as at the time of filling in this report, the hospital has not opened for operations due to fear of further attack from the suspect.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Ekiti State has described the incident as barbaric calling on the Ekiti State Police Command to fish out the suspect for prosecution.

In a reaction, the chairman of the Association Mr. Kunle Oni said that it would be a great injustice to the injured Nurse and the health community, if the suspects is allowed to go unpunished, adding that such development will encourage further attacks on health officials.

According to the statement, the injured nurse who is battling for her life had undergone several tests and x-rays as a result of the injury sustained from the attack.
