Oyo State Government has commenced payment of N325 million compensation to property owners acquired for the construction of two bus terminals at Iwo Road interchange Ibadan.
The State Commissioner for Public Works, Professor Daud Sangodoyin issued cheques to some of the property owners at the State Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan.
Speaking with newsmen, Professor Sangodoyin explained that 227 affected property owners who have no litigation on their property would benefit from the gesture.
Professor Sangodoyin stated that due process was followed by three Ministries incharge of the valuation of the property before concluding on the amounts to be paid to the respective property owners.
Professor Sangodoyin added that Governor Seyi Makinde had rebuilt a mosque demolished as a result of the bus terminals construction and paid N50 million to owner of the affected church building.
Two of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Jimoh Amodu and Mrs Abiola Adekoya, appreciated the state government for fulfilling its promise on the compensation.
