Seyi Makinde’s Aides Parading Themselves As Activists To Discredit Tinubu – Group

A socio-cultural group, has accused aides of ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State as well as members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, masquerading as activists to discredit the victory of Bola Tinubu, president-elect of Nigeria.

The group accused Kunle Yusuf and Bolanle Sarumi-Alliyu, current and former senior special assistants on SDGs and diaspora respectively, of acting as members of civil societies organisations, CSOs, to discredit an election that was free and fair. The duo, the group added, are known members of the PDP from Oyo State.

Asking Nigerians not to be carried away by the antics, OYI, in a statement by its coordinator, Yemisi Ajibola, said the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should be commended for a job well done.

”We are appalled by the ongoing, though unsuccessful attempt to condemn a peaceful election that produced Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president-elect of Nigeria. This is laughable. These people call themselves democrats. If an election held and you aren’t satisfied, the next thing is to approach the court.

”We are happy that former governor Ayo Fayose exposed them during his interview with Arise TV. Governor ‘Seyi Makinde should as a matter of fact call the two of them to order before they mislead the public.

“A winner has emerged. Those who aren’t satisfied shouldn’t set the country on fire. They should go to court. They should take us for a fool. Election has held. The winner has been congratulated. Those who aren’t satisfied should go to work and not fool people by arranging their members to be assessing press conference.

”Democracy like ours is still growing. Though we are not where we want to be but we are not where we used to be. You can’t discredit an election because of small issue. There’s the court if you insist the election wasn’t transparent enough,” the statement added.
