A Friday attack on the Ekiti State House of Assembly complex in Ado was thwarted by officers of the Ekiti State Police Command.
The suspected hoodlums were said to have attempted to gain access into the Assembly complex with the believe that the police officers who had earlier laid siege there since the past four days.
The hoodlums were prepared to burn down the structure with their petrol-filled Jerry cans and cutlasses.
The police officers on the ground apprehended them, found the fuel, and several of the Cutlasses that the fugitive suspected arsonists had abandoned.
The invasion occurred in the early hours of today, according to CSP Sunday Abutu, the Ekiti State Police Command’s public relations officer, who confirmed the news.
He went on to say that the development had supported the intelligence information that the Command had received roughly a week earlier, necessitating the dispatch of extra soldiers to secure the Complex.
Csp Abutu stated that the investigation had started with the intention of arresting the suspects and he urged the public to provide reliable information in that regard as well as to practice security awareness.
