The police in Oyo State have promised to work with the relevant stakeholders to guarantee that the Security Architecture is updated and reorganized in order to crack down on crime in the state.
Mr. Adewale Osifeso, the police public relations officer, said this while displaying some suspected offenders at the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
In order to ensure that the problem of insecurity became a thing of the past, he claimed that the command has relied on meticulous Stop and Search activities, strategic intelligence sharing with Relevant Sister Agencies, Joint Patrols across the metropolis and adjacent routes, and deliberate intelligence structured surveillance.
The PPRO said the Command in concerted partnerships with the Millitary, Department of State Service(DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil, Defence Corps(NSCDC), Oyo State Security Network (Amotekun), Vigilantes and local hunters have resulted in the discoveries of criminal cells and hideouts, make-shift armouries, catchés of unaccounted lethal ammunition, millitary uniforms and gear in ibadan and its environs.
He noted that in the past few weeks, the Command through strategic coordination of its operational and tactical assets took the assault to the doors of the criminally minded elements across the State, Though at a cost, the Command lost some of its officers who paid the supreme price.
He therefore called on caregivers, medical experts and Traditional Healers to report encountered cases of gunshot victims and injuries to the Police with promises of utmost confidentiality and protection of the sources,while residents alike are enjoined to jettison all negative narratives and perception about the Police in exchange for trust and renewed sense of purpose.
Some of the suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery syndicate, impersonation of military personnel to Hijacking and Diversion of vehicles,
They equally confessed to have perpetrated similar criminal activity in various parts of Oyo state and its neighboring states.
The suspects are ADENIJI BUKOLA, SUNDAY DANIEL, AFEEZ SULAIMAN, KAZEEM KOREDE, OPE DAUDA, OLANLOKUN IDOWU, SAHEED NAFIU, SUNDAY KEHINDE , YUSUF ISMAILA , SALAWUDEEN AZEEZ, MOSHOOD ISAH, AFOLAYAN and BABALOLA LUKMAN.
Others suspects are AMUDA USMAN, ZUBAIRU SAEED,MOHAMED KURI, MOHAMMED, ABUBAKAR,OLATILEWA WASIU, SIKIRU OLASUPO.
