Medical Women’s Association Of Nigeria Advocates Quality Education For Girl Child

On the occasion of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child, the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, Oyo State branch, has congratulated Nigerian girls.

In a letter to commemorate the day, the Association’s president, Dr. Oyindamola Adeyemi, expressed hope that the celebration this year will inspire women to work hard to reach greatness via education.

Dr. Adeyemi claimed that a good education gives girls the power to become leaders and visionary women.

She disclosed that the Association is advancing the education of girls in Nigeria via advocacy and collaboration with key players in the field of education.

Speaking on the occasion’s topic, “Digital generation. Our generation,” Dr. Adeyemi said that girls are a major source of transformational change for gender equality and that technology is a vital instrument to promote their work, activism, and leadership.

She stated that the Medical Women Association of Nigeria would not give up on enabling females to make a difference in both Nigeria and the rest of the world.

Dr Adeyemi advocated equal access to the internet and digital devices for girls’ to excel in their future endeavours. She posited that Girls are breaking boundaries and barriers, including those directed at children with disabilities and those living in marginalized communities.

The Association therefore called on the Federal government to give more priorities to education and ensure the ongoing ASUU strike is resolved urgently to avoid jeopardizing the education of Nigerian youths.
