Teachers’ Day: Oyo Govt. Approves Next Promotion Exercise For Civil Servants

The Oyo State Government has given the go-ahead for the absorption of 2,000 primary school teachers who were previously seconded to the state’s Post-Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) under Senator Abiola Ajimobi’s previous government.

TESCOM Chairman Pastor Akinade Alamu made this disclosure in Ibadan at the commemoration of World Teachers’ Day in 2022.

The teachers, who are employed by secondary schools all over the state, had petitioned the Oyo State Government to either regularize their appointments as TESCOM teachers or restore their appointments as primary school teachers under the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB).

The permanent integration of the instructors into Oyo State’s post-primary sub-sector, according to the Chairman of TESCOM, is another illustration of the current administration’s dedication to the advancement of education.

Additionally, he stated that the next cycle of promotions in the state civil service has received approval from the Oyo State Government and would begin once the requisite documentation has been completed.

“To whom much is given much is expected; therefore I appeal to you to key into the Government’s resolve to bring back the lost glory of the State in education, by making sure our children excel both in internal and external examinations”, he said.
