In order to promote justice and fairness in the party before the general election in 2023, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has demanded the resignation of Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s National Chairman.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, and senior PDP hierarchy were present as he made the decision at the PDP interactive South West meeting in Ibadan.
The move, according to Governor Makinde, became necessary for the party to allow for internal democracy and to give Nigerians renewed faith that the PDP is prepared to advance the nation if it wins the next presidential election.
Governor Makinde reiterated that integrity and honor must be the party’s guiding principles in all sectors and that he thought the party had the ability to overcome its issue.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, told party members that the party’s constitution and established rules were the only way to implement calls for the resignation of the national chairman or any other national officer.
Alhaji Atiku urged the PDP members in the south west to maintain unity and concentration in order for the party to win the general election in 2023.
As the momentum for the 2023 general election builds, Peoples Democratic Party vice presidential candidate Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa declared that it was time for party members in the south west to speak with a unified voice.
Some of the PDP hierarchy who spoke including the representative of National Chairman,Senator Umar Banana, former National Secretary of the party,Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola,Senator Dino Melaye and Abiodun Olujimi described Alhaji Atiku as a unifier,bridge builder and tested person.
Among the dignitaries at the South West meeting are Governor of Sokoto State ,AminuTambuwal,Osun Governor -elect, Ademola Adeleke, Gubernatorial candidate for Ogun state, Ladi Adebutu and its Lagos state counterpart,Jide Adediran
