Oyo state government through the state primary health care board has expanded the scope of its covid 19 vaccination centres across the state.
This is as the state brought on board community pharmacists in Oyo state to administer Covid 19 vaccines to residents.
As a result of the partnership, twenty three community pharmacists have been trained and accredited by USAID, ministry of health and other relevant agencies in the pilot stage of the exercise.
Speaking with newsarena.ng in Ibadan, Chairman, Association of community Pharmacists in Oyo state, Olalekan Gbadamosi said the initiative was to increase the number of residents vaccinated against covid 19 in the state and to safeguard the health of Nigerians.
“We discovered that there is hesitancy among the people, because of one wrong information or the other, that is why the community pharmacists in Oyo state are being coopted into the vaccination team to make sure people are persuaded to do the needful” He said.
A public health expert, Oyo State Primary healthcare board, Dr David Akinpelu said for easy identification of the centres, “Each of the 23 community pharmacies providing COVID-19 vaccination have a flex banner at their door post for publicity.”
