Nigerians have been advised to choose political leaders in the next year’s general elections based on their qualifications, track record of accomplishments, and experience.
The President General, Concerned Yoruba Muslim Scholars in Nigeria, CONYORMS, Sheikh Abdulrasheed Mayaleke and Secretary General of the association, Professor Abideen Olaiya gave the advice in Ibadan at news briefing tagged “Who is afraid of Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket”.
They stated that regardless of religious allegiance, Nigeria needs competent government to overcome socioeconomic and security concerns.
Professor Olaiya urged Nigerians to disregard prejudice displayed by individuals, groups, and some non-Muslim religious leaders. He emphasized that Senators Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima are the best leadership team Nigeria deserves for a united and prosperous nation.
He stressed that Senator Tinubu’s track record as the designer of modern Lagos state and Senator Shettima’s detribalized and managerial skills as governor of Borno state were indications that they would usher in a working nation for all.
Professor Olaiya argued that in order to create a country that is both politically and economically stable, Nigerians must learn to tolerate one another’s differing religious views.
