A non profit making organization, Seyi Adisa Development Initiative, SADI, has commenced another series of empowerment training of youths on vocational skills in Hair and Beauty services.
The programme which formed cardinal pillar of SADI selected ten beneficiaries for three months intensive training and mentorship on Hair and beauty business, after which the trainees would graduate with starter packs to explore the industry.
At the orientation ceremony, held in Awe, Oyo state, barrister Seyi Adisa, lawmaker representing AFIJIO constituency in the Oyo state house of assembly said SADI, a non governmental organisation, was passionate about reducing rate of poverty, under development and unemployment in Africa through Skills and economic empowerment programmes.
Adisa, who spoke through the SADI Administration and Resource Manager, Mr. Ọpẹyemi Oyeniyi disclosed that SADI had trained and empowered over ten scores of direct beneficiaries which are now successful in their respective businesses.
” SADI supports women, when the men are going up, the women folks should also grow. We have done series of skills acquisition and vocational trainings for women and youths in Afijio since 2019 and we have recorded impressive testimonials from both direct and indirect beneficiaries”

Adisa, who is also the convener of SADI, enjoined the trainees to participate fully in the three month intensive training regimen with the growth mindset so as to break even in the Hair and Beauty services vocation they have chosen.
The SADI Programme officer, Adelayo Adeyemo, explained that the project was to empower girls and women of age 16 to 24 with lucrative vocational skills that would make them self reliant.
She noted that the programme which were in three batches had the first call of ten trainees selected from 200 applications for intensive training and exposure to the basics of Hair and Beauty vocation
She added that apart from trainings on Bridal hair styling, wig making, Skin Care and mixing of skin care products, trainees would be initiated into Branding and Digital skills to enable them offer services to clients across the nation and larger world without having a shop or physical store as well as finance management and book keeping including mentoring interface with established partners for on-the-job training and mentoring on the business.
On her part, the trainer, Simply Posh, Fumilayo Babatunde, told the trainees that the industry was lucrative, noting that hair and beauty services was less stressful and self advertising, promising them that they would be exposed to all aspects of the training from beginner to Master class.
Representatives from the mentors, She Rises International Incorporated, Harluv Beauty Empire, Animashaun Abiodun, and Beauty Race Home, Ajetunmobi Niyi, who spoke at the event, encouraged the trainees to be friendly with customers, take pictures of their works for marketing purposes, add value to their services and upgrade themselves beyond the basics of the training through online research to discover styles in Vogue so as to stay up to date in their services.
The Aláwé of Awe , Oba Cornelius Abiola Taiwo, represented by Baale Oluokun, Chief Kolawole Johnson, challenged the trainees to count themselves lucky for scaling the schakle of unemployment and encouraged them to develop missions and Visions to enable them thrive in the business.
The traditional ruler, also advocated the replication of the gesture to the male counterparts to reduce the menace of thuggery and drug abuse in the community as well as provision of started packs for trainee upon graduation.
